Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd February

Year 13 A1 English

You are booked into the library for both Monday and Tuesday’s lessons. During this time, there are a number of tasks that you should complete (in any order you prefer):

1. Finalise WL Essays and Cover Sheets.
o Key features needed are on the blog in an earlier post.
o One addition – if you are doing assignment 2c – Commentary or Passage, you MUST include a typed version of the section of the text that you are basing your essay on. This should be placed after the title page, but before your actual essay. Your essay should start on a new page.
o If you are unsure about how to complete the cover sheet, leave it until the lesson on Thursday and I can help you.

2. Annotate some Frost poems (see list below), making sure to be as independent as possible. Use the process / checklist that we’ve worked on for the Unseen Commentary exam to help you decipher the poem (but also remember that there are consistent themes and stylistic features within Frost’s poetry that should help you):
o Desert Places
o A Leaf-Treader
o Neither Out Far nor in Deep

3. Complete some research on Robert Frost. It does not have to be overly-detailed, but you should make sure you include meaningful notes and focus on:
o His life and significant events / influences
o Living environment / Context
o Critical Views / Reception

4. EXTENSION: For those of you who are keen and want as much feedback as possible leading in to the exams, you can complete EITHER a commentary on one of the above poems OR a commentary on one of the prose extracts from the photocopied worksheets I have given you previously. (This will really sort out the contenders from the pretenders)
